What kind of brand designer would I be if I didn't treat my own brand with the same integrity and care that I would for all of my clients? Many designer peers will agree that designing for yourself can be a challenge -- you, yourself can be your toughest client at times. But...
Homebound Creative is a graphic design and embroidery studio based in Hanover, MN. Founded by a full time Minnesota real estate agent with a creative background, the business was born from a love of branding and a desire to help other entrepreneurs show up intentionally. From full brand design suites to hand stitched one-of-a-kind pieces and machine embroidery, Homebound Creative blends thoughtful design with high quality custom-made works of art.
The name "Homebound" nods to my real estate origins while also representing a sense of "rootedness", inspired by the idea of identity, comfort and connection. Using certain symbols can be a "no-no" when it comes to designing a brand, however since this brand also doubles as an archive of my previous work I wanted something super simple, literal and easy to blend with multiple projects when it came to Homebound's logo. The logo features a simple outline of a home enclosing the iconic Illustrator (Adobe Creative Suite) pen tool, a nod to the digital design work that powers both brand creation and embroidery digitization. It's a subtle reference to the studio's foundation in both digital art and physical craft.
Paired with a classic serif font for structure and a handwritten script for personality, the brand identity reflects Homebound Creative's balance of professionalism, approachability, and handmade heart.
